Hi there, I'm Jens Klatt
I’m a camera guy and communication designer based in Augsburg, Germany. I love telling stories – whether through words, images, or design.
I’m a bit restless, and maybe that’s why I’m drawn to photography: capturing a moment in a single frame, freezing time as the world rushes by.
As a youngster, I traveled the world chasing all kinds of outdoor sports – kayaking, skiing, mountain biking – always with a camera in hand.
Today, I live near Augsburg with my family. I shoot photos and videos for companies, agencies, and individuals. I conceptualize and design magazines, catalogs, and other corporate media – or dive into my own creative projects, like my recent SUP guidebook.

SUP Guide Berlin & Umland
I learned to paddle on the waterways of Brandenburg. After many years on the rivers of the world, I was drawn back to my old homeland to rediscover the beautiful lakes and rivers with a stand-up paddleboard. In cooperation with Thomas Kettler Verlag, the ‚SUP Guide Berlin & Umland‘ was created.

For the American watersports outfitter NRS, I manage the European market. This includes serving as the in-house photographer for European photo shoots, planning campaigns and designing ads, as well as creating catalogs, workbooks, and the in-house customer magazine Let’s Paddle.

The Bike 2 Boat Project
Ironically, the idea came to us on a flight back from Mexico: How can we travel without leaving a massive carbon footprint? The answer – bikes and trailers! Since then, we’ve covered 600 km in Norway (2012), crossed the Alps from Nice to Venice in 2013 (2,300 km, 34.000 meters of elevation), and toured through Tyrol in 2020. These incredibly demanding but truly unique journeys have been featured in numerous magazines, in TV shows like SternTV, and Olaf took the project on tour with his film screenings.

Together with the editorial office Red-Gun, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects. Whether as art director, photo editor, photographer, or writer – we’ve created beautiful print publications such as Globetrotter Magazin, 4-Seasons, Planet Snow, and Kanumagazin.

Olaf Obsommer & the Sick Line Team
Together with my long-time partner Olaf Obsommer, I’ve worked on a wide variety of film and photo productions in the extreme sports sector. Olaf’s film series SICK LINE even gave its name to the adidas Sick Line World Championships in Ötztal, Tyrol.

Norway - The Whitewater Guide Book
As early as the early 1990s, my paddle club and I were drawn to Norway for whitewater paddling. In the early 2000s, while traveling with Olaf Obsommer to film the Sick Line movies, the idea emerged to preserve our adventures for future generations in the form of a guidebook. After three years of work, our book was published in 2005. A mammoth project!
